fit and flare dress

One of the big dress silhouettes to emerge this year has been the Fit and Flare. Just as the name suggests, it’s fitted at the top, and flares out at the bottom. It is inherently feminine, emphasizing tiny waists (or at least giving the illusion of a tiny waist!) and hourglass silhouettes. Many designers are bringing back this 50’s style dress in versatile knit fabrics, nautical stripes, bold florals, and of course – lace!

The Basics: For this in between weather, wear your fit and flare dress with a denim jacket and oxford shoes. It’s a super easy super casual look with pieces you probably already have in your existing wardrobe!

Casual: We love throwing an open knit sweater over a fit and flare dress to take down the dressiness. To add a little chic factor pair it with gladiator sandals and a tassel necklace. These bold accents make this an easy day to night outfit.

Dressy: The fit and flare silhouette is perfect for any party. The silhouette looks great on anyone and it instantly adds an element of glitz and glam. To finish off this look just add fun heels and simple accessories (hint: less is more with your fit and flare). Focus on one accessory, if the dress is simple do a bold necklace, but if its super embellished stick with a simple pair of earrings!
